When it comes to buying jeans, I have a tendency to stick with what I know – skinnies or boyfriend jeans – but there is something about a pair of flares that I am drawn to. Flares seem to be one trend throwback that has stood the test of time and continues to be chic all these years later (unlike overalls or “mom jeans” which I just can’t get behind).
If I were to pin down what it is about a pair of flares that has me hooked, I think I would have to say it is the unexpected shape they give to an outfit, that little something different in the silhouette. I also like the way they easily take on a multitude of styling options depending on the items you choose – add a plain tee and some flats for a casual look or dress them up with a pussy bow blouse and some wedge heels for a night out.
In this outfit, I have styled a look that would be perfect for a Saturday shopping trip or Sunday lunch with the husband. It is more on the casual side but still has enough style to keep my fashion heart happy.
I started with the flares as these are the building blocks for the rest of the outfit. These jeans are Frame Denim Le Flare de Francoise high-rise jeans and I love the pocket detailing and the dark blue colour. The off-the-shoulder top is from Tibi and I thought there could be a risk that choosing another trend item could be too much for the outfit but I think the cut and colour of this top is a gorgeous combination with these flares.
For the shoes I went with these Tory Burch perforated logo leather sandals. I find it a bit of a challenge to find a black sandal and I’m pretty happy that this pair ticks all of my boxes. The wooden colour heel is a nice contrast to the black and the backless style means I could wear them for days without fear of blisters.
To finish the look off, I chose these round frame sunglasses from Sass and Bide and for a pop of colour, this raspberry lip colour from Laura Mercier.
