Friday Work Wear

For today’s work wear look, I have wholeheartedly embraced the casual Friday theme with this absolutely gorgeous Sheer Knit Maxi from Stolen Girlfriends Club, found over at my favourite NZ designer store Superette. I love the not quite navy colour, the sheer fabric with the mini-skirt peeking out and the cinching at the waist.

To layer with this, I decided to go for a drapey cardigan – I was initially going to go with a leather jacket or a blazer but wanted to keep the look definitely casual and this Rick Owens Asymmetrical Cardigan in white does this exactly. I love the detail in the fastenings, the layering in the collar and most of I love the looong sleeves (I have a slight obsession with any garment with long sleeves – add a bit of arm bling and I am in fashion heaven.) The silk fabric also keeps it from being too ‘Sunday brunchy’.

To add a bit of glam, I chose these oh so cute Marc by Marc Jacobs Mouse Ballerina Pumps. If you were to just glance by these shoes you would be drawn to their gold-tone metallic finish, in of itself a great statement, but look a little closer and you will notice these shoes featuring a mousey face with leather ears, silver-tone eye studs and stitched face detailing. Too cute.

For accessories, I went back to Suprette and found this bohemian Festival Bag by Lindi Kingi. I love the long fringe and the the beaded finish on the front, and the cross over strap gives it that length which looks great with a maxi dress. The bling comes from none-other than Alexander McQueen with this Ceramic Tusk and Skull Pendant. The thick chain and the size of the pendants are just enough to say “I’m here!” without detracting from the rest of the look.

A great look for “Casual Friday” while maintaining the style and the glam.

I have made a pinterest board called “Work Wear” if you are interested in checking out these items (and those from my other looks this week) in more detail.
