I have a definite military trend thing happening at the moment. I find when browsing fashion websites/magazines etc, am instantly attracted to any looks that include epaulettes, deep green/brown tones, tarnished buttons or domes and double breastedness.
Allow me to illustrate:

The Winter Coat I recently purchased from Asos (and for the past week have been checking the post at least 10 times a day to see if it has arrived yet) is described as Peacoat. Wikipedia describes a peacoat as:
“A pea coat (or pea jacket, pilot jacket) is an outer coat, generally of a navy-colored heavy wool, originally worn by sailors of American and European navies. Pea coats are characterized by broad lapels, double-breasted fronts, often large wooden or metal buttons, and vertical or slash pockets.”
So yep, we can safely say I am adopting the Military theme.
The thing I love most about this look is the different styling options to compliment it. Whether sticking with the boy-man look with boyfriend jeans and a beanie or dressing it up a little with a cute dress, tights and boots, the military theme is one look that will be sticking around in my wardrobe for a while.
The following set is a look I created with my new jacket as the inspiration. I decided to mix up my coat with some prettier items as a great contrasting Winter look, although keeping in-line with my “grungier” take on prettiness. (For those of you reading this that know me, you’ll instantly know what I mean when I say this. For those of you who don’t, stick around a while, you’ll soon see…)
